Parent and Infant Program

“The child builds his inmost self out of the deeply felt impressions he receives.”  Maria Montessori, The Absorbent Mind

The Nido Parent/Infant program is an opportunity for parents and their infants to come together in a prepared Montessori environment. Facilitated by a trained Montessori Director of Assistants to Infancy the sessions are a chance for parents to ask questions and be guided in discussion.  The infants will have opportunities to explore an environment that has been specially prepared to create opportunities for cognitive, emotional/social and movement development. Practical ideas will also be shared so that parents can adopt a Montessori Philosophy in their own homes. At the end of each session there is time to enjoy music as a group.

Discussion topics include:

  • An Overview of Montessori
  • The Human Tendencies
  • The Absorbent Mind
  • Sensitive Periods
  • Observation
  • Development of the hand and equilibrium
  • Language Development
  • Feeding and Sleeping Issues
  • Toileting the Montessori Way
  • The Role of a Second Parent
  • Independence in the Home
